- This site was built and is maintained by professional astronomer Phil Plait,
who has written the book Bad Astronomy.
- The site focuses on the very strong misconceptions of the American public
on astronomy matters, commenting on the errors in everything fron CNN to popular
Hollywood films. This site is very useful for anyone interested in learning
more about astronomy, or anyone interested in un-learning some bad astronomy.
ESA
- This is the European Space Agency's web site.
ISAS
- This is Japan's Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, and the site
is in English, although it does have a Japanese text counterpart here.
- This site is well-constructed, and you can find out a lot of information
about its missions.
NASA
- The homepage for the United States' National Aeronautical Space Administration,
founded in 1951.
- Although sometimes hard to navigate, this site is a good starting place for
trying to find general and specific information about practically everything.
Powers
of 10
- One of the most important concepts in Astronomy is the concept of the magnitudes
of numbers involved.
- This page has a Java Applet that takes the user from the scale of 10 million
light-years from the Milky Way (1023 m) through that of subatomic
particles (10-16 m).
